Goodwood Festival of Speed
In the summer of 1936, Freddie March - the 9th Duke of Richmond - hosted a private hillclimb for the Lancia Car Club in the grounds of Goodwood House. In 1993, his grandson, the present Earl of March hosted his own Hillclimb and created the Festival of Speed. The weekend sees a wide range of Formula 1, supercars, bikes and heritage cars taking on the infamous Hillclimb, which challenges the world's greatest drivers and riders, including today's Formula 1 and Moto GP stars.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is the largest motoring garden party in the world – a unique summer weekend that brings together an impossibly heady mix of cars, stars and motorsport ‘royalty’ to create the largest car culture event in the world. The Festival allows motorsport enthusiasts to get closer to the action than ever before as cars and bikes roar up the 1.16-mile parkland drive, right past Goodwood House. From classic sports cars to the latest Formula 1 machines, Le Mans winners to drag racers and supercars to vintage bikes, nowhere else in the world will you see such a vast array of machines. In 2017 the festival will be running for four days from the 29 th of June – 2 nd of July, with either full weekend or day tickets available.
