Destination 1 of 5 - Scotland in a motorhome
Some of you will have a destination in mind but others will follow the wind in the hope of creating interesting and memorable experiences. A motorhome gives you the freedom to roam with all the home luxuries and without constraints. There’s so much to see and do throughout the UK and across mainland Europe, which often means it’s difficult to decide where to spend your time away. We’ve compiled a list of our 5 favourite places, as recommended by staff and past customers. We’ll be posting one destination a week, along with our suggested route in the form of an interactive map.
1 - Scotland – 6/7 days – 545 miles (877km) / 347 miles (558km) if you cut out the Isle of Skye
Scotland always astounds with its rugged landscapes and breathtaking scenery. Some of the photos that our customers send in make us incredibly jealous in the office! Travellers who favour travelling south in search of warmer climes often overlook this jewel in the UK’s crown. There is of course the beautiful capital city of Edinburgh, with its castle and vibrant culture, and if you’re lucky enough to be visiting during August you’ll undoubtedly catch the largest arts festival on earth: The Fringe with hundreds of unique shows spread over three weeks in often quirky locations. Once you’ve had enough of city life and want to explore the wilder side of Scotland, head over to Fort William, which is overlooked by the highest peak in the UK, Ben Nevis. There’s plenty of walking routes in this area, and if you’re feeling adventurous you can climb to the 1,345m summit and momentarily become the highest land dwelling person in the UK! From Fort William you can head north-west to the rugged yet beautiful Isle of Skye if it takes your fancy. You can then return on the lookout for the infamous sea dwelling creature in Loch Ness, passing through Inverness and into the Cairngorms national park then head south to continue your journey via Stirling Castle. You’ll find plenty of distilleries and other interesting places to stop en route, and come across some fascinating historical towns. Feel free to tailor our suggested route to fit with your timings and please do get in touch to tell us your favourite places to add to our route!
